Emmerdale star reveals “awful” moment that Tracy is finally caught out

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Amy Walsh has revealed all on the “awful” moment that her character Tracy Robinson is publicly exposed as a shameless thief.

Tracy is caught out at The Woolpack in Thursday’s episode (April 10) as her sister Vanessa Woodfield drunkenly exposes her guilt.

The struggling shop worker is about to confide in Vanessa about how she’s been stealing from her boss Eric Pollard by pocketing cash that was meant for the till.

Tracy naturally thinks that she can expect discretion from Vanessa, but the reality is very different. As Vanessa drowns her sorrows at the pub while struggling with her own issues, she turns nasty by announcing Tracy’s secret to everyone.

Eric is present to hear the damning revelation, and he’s devastated to realise that Tracy has betrayed him so badly.

Speaking about the dramatic scene, Amy revealed: “Tracy’s first comment to Vanessa is that Eric didn’t deserve this. In her brain, Vanessa has made him look like a fool.

“Tracy was partly trying to keep it hush-hush for that reason, so he wouldn’t feel hurt. It’s quite a complex and twisted narrative for her, but that’s the way she’s got through it!

“It’s not Tracy’s finest moment, but it’s down to desperation. I’ve just had to put it down to Tracy being a desperate single mum. People do crazy things when they’re desperate, especially to protect their kids.”

She continued: “The scenes were so fun to film. It’s usually Tracy being the lairy one and Vanessa calming her down, so it was really nice to see the dynamic flip.

“Vanessa has been through so much sadness recently. She gets so much anger in her belly and shows that feisty side of her. We’ve always known it’s there, but Vanessa keeps it locked up until she’s really pushed to the edge.

“I actually loved it so much. I absolutely love working with Michelle [Hardwick, who plays Vanessa], and the dynamic between the two sisters is so great. They’re so different, but you can tell that they’re cut from the same cloth.

“It does get a bit nasty and tearful, so we had to go there when we were filming, and it was heartbreaking.

“Eric’s reaction in that moment is awful for Tracy. That’s the first moment where she really sees the repercussions of her actions and what she’s done to this old, sick man. It’s pretty dark stuff, really.”

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
