Emmerdale’s Tracy defends stealing thousands from Eric in tense ITVX episode

Emmerdale spoilers follow from Wednesday’s episode (April 9), which is available to watch now on streaming service ITVX but hasn’t yet aired on ITV1.

Emmerdale‘s Tracy Robinson makes a dramatic confession tonight – telling her sister Vanessa Woodfield just how much she’s stolen from Eric Pollard.

Tracy comes clean over the shocking extent of her thieving as her secret feelings of guilt finally boil over.

The breaking point comes as Eric recently realised that a significant sum of money had gone missing from the local shop.

Eric is wrongly blaming himself for the financial discrepancies, so Tracy knows that her deception and gaslighting have gone way too far.

As Tracy opens up to Vanessa about everything, she fesses up over how she owes Eric a four-figure sum after repeatedly pocketing money that was meant for the shop’s till. When Vanessa disapproves, Tracy defends herself with some tough home truths.

“[I’ve taken] a couple of grand, maybe two and a half. Just bits and bobs out of the till,” she explained.

“Tens and twenties here and there. It’s not just a few quid – not to me. Have you still not noticed that I’m not on a vets’ salary? I don’t get anything from Nate. I count every penny – literally every penny. That’s how I know your takeout coffee money is more than I feed Frankie on.”

Tracy’s admission is the beginning of the end for her secret plan, as Emmerdale bosses have previously revealed that she gets caught out in a dramatic scene this week.

Trouble brews when Vanessa decides to drunkenly expose Tracy’s guilt at The Woolpack in Thursday’s hourlong episode (April 10), leaving Eric devastated.

“It’s been going on for a few months, to be honest. I think Tracy feels desperate,” Amy Walsh – who plays Tracy – told us.

“She feels guilty once it comes out, but in the moment, it’s fight or flight for her daughter, so I don’t think she can take on the guilt of what she’s doing to Eric and the gravity of that. She’s just in survival mode.

“It’s literally the cost of living crisis personified. Everything has gone up, and Tracy’s husband has vanished. She’s getting nothing from her husband, and he was the main breadwinner in the relationship – she only worked at the shop a few days a week, so you can see why she would be struggling financially.

“Suzy not being here, having passed away, means that Tracy and Vanessa are now sharing everything at the house between two rather than three.

“It’s the world we’re living in at the moment – everything is costing more. Tracy is also trying to save face, making sure that Frankie has new shoes and things like that because she doesn’t want her to be any different.”

Emmerdale‘s latest episode airs tonight at 7.30pm on ITV1 and is streaming right now on ITVX.
