Coronation Street lines up sudden change for Mick and Lou story

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

The cobbles’ resident nightmare neighbours Mick and Lou Michaelis will face a betrayal from new friend Gemma Winter-Brown.

The pair has recently relocated to Weatherfield, where they haven’t received the warmest welcome. While Gemma has been friendly with them initially, it appears that things are about to change after she’s warned against the couple.

In scenes airing next Monday, April 7, Gemma grows uneasy about her relationship with Mick and Lou.

Despite agreeing to have lunch with Lou, she decides to cancel on her at the last minute, pretending that one of her quads is feeling poorly.

Gemma’s lies are soon exposed when Lou spots her in the café. Greeting her with a tight smile, the newcomer asks Gemma why she isn’t at home caring for her sick child.

What will Gemma say to get out of this awkward situation? Is it game over on her friendship with Lou, or will they patch things up?

Meanwhile, Lou and Mick have been confirmed to be moving away from the cobbles this summer, leaving their secret son behind.

Speculations about the identity of Lou and Mick’s son suggest he may be someone who’s already been introduced to the soap, with more to be revealed in due course.

A Corrie spokesperson confirmed Mick and Lou actors Joe Layton and Farrel Hegarty will bow out in a j0int exit later in the year.

“Mick and Lou were brought into the show to cause chaos on the cobbles in the build up to a major storyline in the summer and they are already making their presence felt,” they said.

“Joe and Farrel were contracted for a specific length of time, some characters come in for a long time and some like Mick and Lou are brought to pass through and leave a trail of destruction behind them.

“Both actors are still filming with the show and will be on screen until the summer.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
